What is Botox?
Botox is a neurotoxic protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. When used for aesthetic purposes, Dr. Buttar and his team inject Botox into specific facial muscles to temporarily paralyze them.
This smooths out wrinkles and fine lines, giving the face a more youthful appearance.
Botox works by blocking nerve signals in the muscles, preventing them from contracting and thus reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
What are some common aesthetic uses of Botox?
Botox is primarily used for cosmetic purposes to address signs of aging caused by dynamic wrinkles.
Dynamic wrinkles are those caused by expression, such as smiling or squinting.
The team may recommend Botox for specific areas, including: Frown lines Botox smoothes out the vertical lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) that often make people appear angry or worried.
Crow's feet
It also effectively reduces the fine lines that form around the eyes, known as crow's feet.
Forehead lines Botox can minimize horizontal lines on the forehead.
Bunny lines
These are the wrinkles that appear on the sides of the nose when you scrunch it.
Neck bands
Botox can be used to relax the platysma muscles in the neck, reducing the appearance of neck bands or cords.
How long does the effect of Botox for aesthetic purposes last?
The effects of Botox typically last for about 3 -6 months. After this period, muscle activity gradually returns, and wrinkles may reappear. Patients often need to repeat the injections to maintain the desired results.
Can Botox be used to treat migraines?
Botox is also approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating chronic migraines. Chronic migraines are defined as headaches that occur on 15 or more days per month, with at least eight of those days being migraines. Botox can help reduce the frequency and severity of migraines by blocking pain signals and relaxing muscles in the head and neck.
How do you use Botox for migraine treatment?
Botox for migraines involves a series of injections around the head and neck, typically in 31 specific sites. Dr. Buttar administers these injections once every 12 weeks. It may take a couple of treatment sessions to see significant improvement, and the effects can last for several months. Call ASPIRE HEALTH or use this website to schedule your Botox treatment today.
